I beleive

I believe that people today should be more positive. We should look at the good things happening in life instead of the bad things. If you read the news paper or watch the news for just a few minutes you would find at least 6 or 7 bad things happening in the world today and you would be lucky to find only one good happening. Sometimes things don’t always go as planned but Positivity will make you happy and feel much better about a bad situation.

About a year ago I sprained my neck playing football. This was one of the worst pains I have ever felt. I could not even twist my neck slightly to the left. But the worst thing was that I had to stay home for 2 weeks until it healed. Sitting home with a sprained neck is not easy and very boring. But I thought about the good things in life and I always thought that the next day would be better than the last. I stayed positive and got through it day by day. It helped me by making a bad situation fell much better and made it much easier to get through each day. As soon as my neck had healed I went back to school and playing football. Now I try to be positive and I try hard in everything I do.

I try to see the good things in a bad situation. I believe that positivity is powerful and that positivity brings hope into people’s lives. It helps people overcome problems and helps people get through a bad situation.

I chose this picture because it shows that there is always something good in the worst of situations and you should always stay positive and focus on the good things.

the battle of hastings

In the first game we had to choose one choice out of a number of options and we had to choose the right choice to win the war. I thought this game was boring because you did not have to do much and it wasn't very exciting. In the second game we choose to control the English and be king Harold, or the normads and be duke William and the vikings and be king hadgrada. You controlled an army and made all the tactical decisions for your army like when to shot arrows, when to move forward, when to fight, when to retreat, etc. I really liked this game because you could really feel how it was to be a king in a war and you could make all the decisions. While playing these two games I learnt that tactical choices are very important in wars. The battle of Hastings started in 1066 when king Edward of England died and people did not know who was going to be the next king. The nobles decided it would be king Edward's brother in law, Harold godwinson but some people did not agree with that. In Normandy duke William thought he should be king because king Edward made an oath to him before he died and king hagrada thought he should be king because he had an ancestor named cunt who was the king of England. Later on that year king hargarda attacked England but failed and king Harold was still king. But then duke William attacked and defeated Harold and now William is king.

Boy In Stripped Pyjamas Reflection

People should stand up for themselves when he or she feels that someone is doing something against his or her believes and values but most people don’t do this because the consequences could be very bad. During the holocaust the consequences for standing up against the Nazis was death and there was also the risk of your family and friends getting hurt. In the white rose movement where people stood up for the Jews, the consequence was execution and death. Even though the consequences might be bad it is still not right to be a bystander and just watch and not take action. The villagers in le Chambon did what they thought was right and sheltered five thousand Jews from the Nazis. It is much easier to ‘just accepting the situation in which you find yourself and everything will be so much easier' (Boyne 53) but you would be so guilty knowing that you did not stand up for your beliefs and values. The consequences for being a by standard could also be very bad. The mother in the boy in stripped pyjamas book lost her son for not standing up against the Nazis and her husband. I think it was the fear people had for Hitler and hitlers great use of propaganda which made him so powerful and mot many would stand up against him.

Steve Mccurry

Steve McCurry is an American photojournalist best known for his photography. Capturing the real meaning of human struggle and joy, McCurry explores themes of the resilience of the human spirit in many of his photos. “It is the stubborn and unassailable conviction – the ability to endure almost anything – that defines the Afghan soul and my fascination with it.- Steve McCurry”

A photo that really captured my eye is the one where children are climbing and hanging all over an abandoned tank.

This photo shows 5 children climbing and hanging all over an abandoned tank. The tank cuts right across the photograph and far in the background there is a city. The cloudless blue sky above them and the dry hot sand underneath them makes this place looks like a very difficult place to live in. this photo also shows the great resilience of the human spirit because these children probably had a very tough life and yet they are still able to bounce back and have fun with their friends. I think Steve McCurry is trying to capture how every child is the same and every child needs to play “No matter how dire the situation, how dangerous the environment, children need to play.”- Steve McCurry ”Whether it is splashing in puddles or climbing on abandoned tanks, their world of make believe is almost as important as food and shelter.” – Steve McCurry. A child may be very different from another, yet every child needs to play – whether it is in play ground or on abandoned tanks.

Another picture that really stands out to me is:

This picture shows a small child no more than 3yrs old hugging a gun. In the back ground there is a man standing behind him holding his head. This photo has an impact on me because I know children should not be at war and when I see this photo I realize that I have so much more than some of the children in 3rd world countries. The most dominant feature in this photo is the child’s eyes; you can almost look into them and see so much about his life. You can see. I think Steve McCurry is trying to capture the boy’s innocents and how he does not know anything else, this is the only thing he has been taught to do.

Overall McCurry’s photos emphasize the struggles and joys of life, just in different people in different cultures. I’ve learnt that McCurry’s work can change lives by showing other people the problems in the world and it makes them want to help the less fortunate. I think McCurry’s work is very special but he is just doing what all the other photographers are trying to do – capturing the moment-

connecting with people

Matt Harding is this guy who has travled to 70 different countries just to dance. He just dances in front of famous landmarks these countries with people he doesnt even know.
Matt Harding says he does it to bring people together. On the video there was people just dancing, laughing, smiling and just having a good time with matt harding. Even though these people are very different they all are dancing. Matt Harding says that the dancing makes the differenance smaller and they soon forget it.
People all over the world start dancing with Matt Harding. Everyone is different, every one wants the same thing. they want to feel connected with each other. Matt harding has linked almost everyone in the world with just one dance.

Ichose this picture because it shows two different people shaking hand. This shows that every one wants to be connected with each other.

The Compliment Guy

The Compliment Guys are 2 high school students who just stand out on the streets with a big signs saying "Free compliments" and they gist give a compliment to anyone who walks by. I like how these two students just stand out there for hours trying to make people happier. I think it is right how the article says "Not enough people do nice things anymore." And if every one does something nice to someone every day the world would be much more peaceful. Now many people are very sad and have many problems in their lives but if you just give them a compliment you would make his/her day so much better.

I chose this picture because it shows how a person feels when you give him a compliment. When you see some one so happy when you give them a compliment you want to give out more compliments.

My Name

My name is Erik

I have always liked my name ever since I learned how to say it. My name is Scandinavian, meaning honourable ruler. The meaning of my name doesn’t really relate to me now, but it might later on in life. Sometimes people spell it with a “C” but my parents spelled it with a “K” because it is the Scandinavian way of spelling it and all my brothers also have“K” in their name. There is no real story on how my parents chose my name . They just found my name and thought it sounded good. Erik is a scandinavinavian name and my father is also Scandinavian so there was a connection. Some positives about my name are that it is short, easy to remember and very easy to say. I have never been teased about my name because it is too short to make fun of. Before I wrote this I never knew anything about my name, I hear it every day but I have never really thought about it. My name was like some random person you see on the streets, you know it’s there, but you don’t know anything about it. Now that I understand it more I know that “Erik” fits me perfectley

My last name is Dahl. My last name is also Scandinavian but it doesn’t really have a meaning. It is a unique name and can be hard to say. In Korea none of my teachers could say my name. My last name is like the number 1 it is a one syllable boring name. Roald Dahl (a famous writer) also has my last name. I used to think that my last name was weird and strange but now i have grown to like it. Now I think of my last name as a never ending road. My last name has been passed on for many generations and it has fallen to me
I chose this picture because i described my name as a never ending road.
